COURSE DESCRIPTION AND EQUIPMENT

 

Course Description:

Intermediate level course focused on safely manipulating and employing a carbine while in and around a vehicle in the daylight and at night, for the purposes of effectively defending yourself in this close quarters, often difficult to navigate environment.

Prerequisite: 

High level of proficiency with operating a carbine, as well as all aspects of firearms safety, muzzle awareness and muzzle discipline. The ability to perform the skills described in both our Defensive Carbine course curriculum, while timed, and under range induced stress.

Course Hours:

Day 1:

  • Noon to as late as midnight

  • Eat an early lunch prior to your arrival at the ranch

  • A dinner break will be taken prior to beginning the night shooting

Day 2:

  • 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Course Overview:​​

  • Weapon mounted light techniques

  • Principals of round trajectory and penetration through different materials on a vehicle

  • Principles of cover and concealment afforded by a vehicle

  • Carbine manipulation in and around a vehicle

  • Manipulating and running the gun on the move

  • Firing from positions associated with defensive vehicular engagements

  • Multiple target engagement work

  • Both paper and steel plate targets are utilized

Student Required Gear:​

  • Seasonal appropriate clothing

  • Closed toe shoes / long pants with belt loops / brimmed hat

  • Sturdy belt

  • Carbine with:

    • Sling (mandatory)

    • Weapon mounted light (mandatory)

    • Fitted with iron sights, red dot optic, or both

    • 3 magazines

    • Magazine carrier(s)

  • Handgun with:

    • Holster

    • 3 magazines

    • Magazine carrier(s)

  • Eye protection

  • Electronic hearing protection (mandatory)

  • Particulate Respirator N95 Mask (to filter glass particles when inside vehicle)

  • Water, lunch and snacks

  • Note taking gear

  • 1000 rounds for your carbine

  • 200 rounds for your pistol

  • NOTE: 9mm ammunition is available for purchase from Mission Critical before or upon arrival at the course
